The design/build and construction management process inevitably present challenges, but we remain diligently committed to the success of every plan and client.
With more than 40 years in business and a combined 350 plus years of experience, DSLD stands ready to serve with a professional staff of licensed and degreed designers, drone pilots, general contractors, homebuilders, landscape architects, horticulturalists, aquatics specialists and a full-time office staff.
DSLD provides a variety of construction services ranging from initial consultation, site analysis and design to final build-out. DSLD offers
conceptual designs, topographical maps, photogrammetry, point clouds, arial photography/videography, 2D/3D renderings, master plans, and construction management for residential and commercial projects.

David Sharp
CEO, President
David studied geotechnical engineering at The Ohio State University and interned with CTL Engineering in Columbus where among other things he provided construction material testing, in the field and lab, for the AEP building in Columbus as well as the National Airport in Washington D.C. Another internship led David to Wyoming to provide geotechnical engineering services at the Chevron Gas Plant in Evanston, working for Cooper and Clark Engineering in Redwood, California. After completing his course work at OSU, David accepted a scholarship to Samford University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.  After graduating, David became interested in applying his background in engineering and business administration to a new course of study in ornamental horticulture, in which he earned state licenses in Landscape Design (LD), Horticulture (SLP) and Ornamental Turf Pest Control (OTPC). ​ In 1983, David started DSLD Land Management Company, Inc. with a goal and vision of providing residential and commercial construction design/build and general contracting services under one roof. Since that time, David has developed a strategic plan to expand the firm’s construction service offerings. Delivering the strategic plan, he has added several new divisions to include professional design, civil engineering, aquatics, commercial drone services, custom home building, construction management and a retail store on highway 280. David resides in Birmingham with his wife, four children and eight grandchildren, where he enjoys family time together. The family enjoys swimming and equestrian activities along with raising chickens. David has dedicated most of his adult life to working with vulnerable children in the state’s foster care system. He and his wife have fostered over thirty children over the years and adopted one beautiful little girl. David has also served on the board of directors for the National Foster Parent Association (NFPA) and the North American Counsel on Adoptable Children (NACAC). He has also authored legislation at the state and national level to support children in foster care. David looks forward to the future of DSLD Land Management Company as he grows the business working alongside his three sons: Cole (IT/Drone), Zachary (Civil) and Miles (Production).
Mark Richenderfer
CFO, Vice President of Finance
Mark has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Villanova University, an MBA in Finance from Drexel University and a Master Certificate in Six Sigma and Lean from Villanova University. Mark is responsible for the finance and accounting group and also works with the management team on strategic planning. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf and traveling with his family. Mark and his wife reside in Birmingham with their two children.
Zachary Sharp
Vice President of Construction
Zach has grown up learning the family business from the ground up. Upon graduating high school, Zach received the Millennial Scholarship from Troy University where he studied biomedical science for two years. After deciding that the family business was where his passion lay, he transferred to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and graduated with a degree in civil engineering. Zach has been studying for several industry-wide certification exams, which has recently paid off as he became a state licensed landscape designer. Next, Zach looks forward to acquiring the Municipal and Utilities Contractor License. He lives in Birmingham with his wife and two children.
Austin Tatum
Vice President Operations & Analytics
Austin started his career at DSLD as an intern where he was exposed to every facet of the company’s many service offerings. He came on full-time in 2019 after completing his degree and graduating Cum Laude from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in mechanical engineering. Through his time at DSLD, Austin has also become a state licensed landscape designer, a licensed residential home builder and a licensed general contractor. He lives in Birmingham with his wife and daughter.
Cole Sharp
Chief Information Security Officer
Growing up alongside his father, Cole learned the family business from the ground up. He attended Jefferson State Community College where he took horticulture courses together with computer information systems to enhance his knowledge of the family business. Today, Cole is fully engaged in the day-to-day operations of DSLD from sales to installation, as well as providing technical support for the company. Cole resides in Birmingham with his wife and 4 sons. In his spare time he spends in the woods driving his ATV and playing soccer.
Miles Sharp
Assistant Production Manager
Growing up alongside his father, Miles has learned the family business from the ground up. Since 2016, Miles has worked in the excavation/ construction side of the business. Miles is a state licensed landscape designer (LD), horticulturalist (SLP) and has his Class A CDL license. He has recently been promoted to Assistant Production Manager. Miles is married and has 2 daughters and a brown lab named Murphy.
Stephen Pyc
Senior Landscape Architect
Stephen is DSLD’s senior landscape designer. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in landscape architecture and has since been designing and providing oversight on landscape projects throughout the southeast. Stephen has proven himself to be a great asset to DSLD’s service-oriented team. His expertise allows him to serve in all facets of the business.
Andy Vaughan
Landscape Architect
Andy was born and raised in Auburn, Alabama. He holds a degree in Landscape Architecture from Mississippi State University. Andy began his career with DSLD as a summer intern in 2020 and has been a part of the team upon graduation in 2021. As an Alabama Licensed Landscape Designer, Andy contributes to both 2D and 3D landscape design. He loves to see a homeowner's dream advance from a design to a reality. Andy also serves his clients as a project manager throughout the construction process. When he's not in the office, Andy is an avid outdoorsman and you can find him in the woods or with a fishing rod in his hand.
Anna Jordan
Landscape Architect
Anna is a Georgia peach and was born and raised in the town of Thomaston, GA. She studied at the University of Georgia where she earned a Bachelor of Scienin Landscape Architecture, a minor in Historic Preservation and a minor in Music. Anna is a licensed Landscape Designer in the state of Alabama and has a vast knowledge in in horticulture. Outside of work, Anna enjoys singing, attending church, exercising, watching movies, and spending time with friends.
Ricky Geiger
Information Technology
Ricky works in our I.T. department and plays an integral role in the design team. He works with our survey team to provide topographical maps and site plans for our designers. Ricky also has a hand in our pool division as a membrane installer. Ricky has lived in Birmingham all his life and he enjoys staying active through soccer and working out.
Dawson Timmons, EI
Civil Designer
Dawson is from Augusta, Georgia, and he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Georgia. He currently has his Engineer Intern license in the state of Alabama, and he plans to become a Professional Engineer in the future.
George Hall
Warehouse Manager
George is a senior CAD operator for DSLD Land Management where he designs, lays out and completes site plans, easements and permit drawings. He also prepares construction drawings for site, storm, sanitary and water improvements for all residential and commercial projects. George is a graduate of Ohio Northern University with a Bachelor’s of Science in industrial technology. He enjoys being a father and husband and spends his time away from work enjoying DIY projects.
Larry Davis
Sales Manager
Larry brings almost 4 decades of invaluable experience in sales and customer service to the table. He is a licensed Minister and has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University. Larry's dedication to understanding client needs and fostering lasting relationships is unparalleled. With deep ties to the Sharp family spanning nearly 6 decades, Larry's commitment to integrity and trust shines through in every interaction. Outside of work, Larry cherishes his role as a devoted husband to Doris for 22 years, father of four, and grandfather to six. His passion for travel has taken him to over 80 countries, enriching both his personal and professional perspectives.
AshileeMarie Cummings
Procurement Manager, Admin Assistant
Hailing from the great state of Texas, AshileeMarie spent her formative years on an emu and ostrich farm. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Arts in Communication and Information Science at the University of Alabama. AshileeMarie puts her strong communication skills to work as DSLD’s Procurement Manager. Beyond her professional pursuits, AshileeMarie enjoys working out and is an avid dog lover who enjoys spending quality time with her two canine companions.
