David H. Sharp


Pursuing his life-long interest in horticulture and business, coupled with a background in drainage and soil erosion, DavidDavid Sharp DSLD Land Management Sharp was inspired to create the ideal landscape construction company specializing in residential design and installation. This inspiration is now DSLD Land Management Company, Inc., a full service design/build landscape
contractor firm located in Birmingham, Alabama
, founded in 1983.

Upon graduation from high school David studied Geotechnical Engineering at the Ohio State University. During his studies at OSU, he participated in a work-study program, which led him to Evanston, Wyoming to work at a gasification plant as a QC Engineer with Cooper and Clark Engineering and later spent two years working back and forth from Washington D.C. to Columbus, Ohio while he was employed at CTL Engineering. While a student at OSU David was offered and accepted a scholarship to Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. David graduated from Samford University with a degree in Business Administration and a full-time position with Ground Engineering Company.

Soon after graduating David became interested in applying his background in Geotechnical Engineering and Business Administration to a new course of study in Ornamental Horticulture. After returning to school and obtaining the requisite education in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design, DSLD Land Management was launched.

Over the years David has been a speaker at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Birmingham Public Library’s Lecture Series, and at various garden clubs throughout the Birmingham area. In addition to learning from the environment around him, David has developed a more thorough understanding of various cultural landscape design applications from his travels throughout Europe and Asia visiting gardens and landscapes in over 20 countries.

David firmly believes in the value of family. Not only does he enjoy his family, but also works to improve the lives of families with at risk children. David enjoys coaching soccer and sits on two National BOD’s where he volunteers on behalf of foster and adopted children across the country.

Wayne Creasman


Wayne Creasman is DSLD’s general manager and longest-standing employee. He stImage 7-26-18 at 12.12 PMarted his career in 1988 with a degree in Golf Course Turf Management along with state licenses in ornamental turf, pest control, horticulture, and landscape design. Creasman says he has enjoyed overseeing the company’s design and installation work because of the commitment to quality, workmanship, impeccable customer service, and a sense of family and integrity. Wayne resides in Gardendale, AL with his wife and two children. In his spare time he enjoys kayaking and gardening.

J. Cole Sharp


Cole Sharp DSLD Land ManagementGrowing up alongside his father, Cole Sharp learned the family business from the ground up. Sharp attended Jefferson State Community College, where he took horticulture courses together with computer info systems to enhance his knowledge of the family business. Today, Cole is fully engaged in the day-to-day operations of DSLD from sales to installation, as well as providing technical support for the company. Cole resides in Birmingham with his wife Amy and son Milo. His spare time is spent in the woods driving his ATV machine and playing soccer.




Zach Sharp, much like his older brother Cole, has grown up learning the family business from the ground up. Upon graduating high school, Zach received a full ride academic scholarship to Troy University where he studied Biomedical Science for two years. After deciding that the family business is where his passion lies, he changIMG_0499ed majors and transferred to The University of Alabama at Birmingham where he is now a senior majoring in Civil Engineering. Sharp is also currently interning with DSLD so that he may develop a greater understanding of the industry while still in school. When he is not studying for school or working, Sharp has been studying for several industry wide certification exams, which recently paid off as he became a State Licensed Landscape Designer. Zach looks forward to graduating, acquiring the Municipal and Utility General Contractors License, and coming in on the ground floor of DSLD’s new Commercial/Engineering Division. 

Brady Pugh


Brady is one of DSLLD’s licensed landscape designers. He is currently a senior at UAB studying Civil Engineering which will enable him to gain more expertise in the design process at DSLD. Austin Tatum is currently part of the intern team at DSLD. He is attending UAB wImage 7-27-18 at 9.22 AMhere he will graduate in 2019 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduating, Austin has accepted a permanent position with DSLD as a project engineer/commercial estimator. Austin currently resides in Chelsea, AL

Darin Milner


Darin Milner is DSLD’s office manager and is a graduate of Auburn UnImage 7-26-18 at 9.57 AMiversity with a degree in Ornamental Horticulture and a minor in Accounting. He has worked in the landscape industry for 24 years and working in an office environment has combined his knowledge of both to be a perfect fit for DSLD. “It’s not just a job, but a family here. The support, professionalism, and high standard of quality work cannot be beaten.” Darin currently resides in Gadsden, AL and is an avid animal lover,book reader, and gardener.

Amy Sharp


Amy Sharp joined the DSLD team as office assistant. She loves being a part of the family-owned business andAmy Sharp DSLD Land Management lending her organizational skills to keeping the business running smoothly. “I love the team mentality that David has integrated into everyday office work,” she said. “When you are working toward a common goal, it gives purpose and life to the task at hand. Also, having been in business for over 30 years and having established themselves as leaders in the land management and landscape design community, it’s inspiring to see what has already been accomplished and leaves me motivated to find ways to leave my footprint and invest in such an inspiring company.”



Stevie Keranen is DSLD’s office assistant and currently attends Jefferson State Community College where she is pursuing her degree in accounting. She enjoys working with everyone at DSLD and sayImage 7-27-18 at 11.22 AMs that they “put the utmost quality and value in everything they do”. Stevie resides in Trussville, AL with her husband and their son.



Stephen Pyc is DSLD’s landscape architect and senior design team member. Stephen graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture and has since been designing and providing oversight on landscape projects throughImage 7-26-18 at 10.53 AMout the southeast. He has proven himself to be a great asset to DSLD’s service-oriented team. His expertise allows him to serve in all facets of the business. Stephen now resides in Leeds, AL.




Sherri Bradford is a concept artist specializing iImage 7-27-18 at 9.41 AMn landscape design renderings. DSLD offers this in order to give potential clients a visual representation of the work DSLD will do for them beyond typical landscape drawings and unseen plans. Along with her work at DSLD, Sherri is attending Jefferson State Community College with a focus on art to further her already phenomenal craft.
